Senior Project Engineer

Environmental Engineering - Plainville, CT - Full Time

Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our Environmental team in Plainville, CT. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to lead complex field and technical projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to meaningful environmental solutions that align with Loureiro’s mission of delivering high-quality, multidisciplinary services.

What You’ll Do
• Provide technical oversight during the construction phase of environmental remediation projects
• Manage bid preparation, remedial system design, scheduling, and documentation including Health & Safety work plans
• Field oversight of contractors to ensure quality, safety, schedule adherence, and performance standards
• Evaluate site-specific remedial technologies, conduct pilot studies, and support design and implementation
• Perform field tasks such as air, soil, groundwater, and sediment sampling; oversee drilling, well installation, and construction activities
• Support environmental investigations, feasibility studies, and regulatory compliance under CERCLA, RCRA, and related frameworks
• Prepare detailed technical reports, health and safety plans, field sampling plans, and data analysis
• Mentor junior staff and support team collaboration across environmental disciplines


Who You Are
• A technically skilled and detail-oriented environmental engineer
• Experienced in fieldwork and site investigation, with a hands-on approach to environmental remediation
• An effective communicator who can coordinate teams and interface with subcontractors and clients
• Organized and adaptable, able to prioritize tasks in fast-paced and dynamic settings
• Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement


What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
• EIT required; PE license preferred
• 5–10 years of experience in environmental consulting or remediation engineering
• Strong technical writing, data analysis, and problem-solving skills
• Experience managing subcontractors and field teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with EQuIS, EnviroInsite, or GIS a plus
• Knowledge of CT RSRs and ASTM Site Assessment protocols preferred
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training (preferred or willingness to obtain)
• Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed


Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and hiking
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied weather and terrains
• Manual dexterity to set up equipment and handle samples
• Must adhere to safety protocols and PPE usage
